National Data
Healthy People 2010
Baseline and monitoring data for Healthy People 2010 (national health objectives designed to identify the most significant preventable threats to health and to establish national goals to reduce these threats) are available. Also available is DATA 2010, an interactive database system developed by staff of the Division of Health Promotion Statistics at the National Center for Health Statistics, and contains the most recent monitoring data for tracking Healthy People 2010.

- National, state and local population counts are available from the decennial Census (every ten years), and more recent population estimates are available from the American Community Survey. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
- The Wonder system has interactive tables with pre-tabulated health statistics by age, gender, race/ethnicity and geography
- Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System is the world’s largest, on-going telephone health survey system, tracking health conditions and risk behaviors in the United States yearly since 1984. Currently, data are collected monthly in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam.
- Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System was developed in 1990 to monitor priority health risk behaviors that contribute markedly to the leading causes of death, disability, and social problems among youth and adults. It incluses national, state, and local-based surveys of representative samples of 9th through 12th grade students. The survey is conducted every two years.
- Health United States, State Data
- Small Area Health Insurance Estimates is a result of a multi-year collaboration between CDC’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control and the Census Bureau’s Small Area Estimates Branch. Included are estimates of low-income, uninsured populations at both the state and county level. This data may be useful in the evaluation and planning of other programs or initiatives that work with similar – uninsured, low-income – populations.
- National Program of Cancer Registries provides data collected by state cancer registries to enable public health professionals to understand and address the cancer burden more effectively.
- State Cancer Profiles provides quick profile by state and cancer type, comparison tables, death rates, incidence rates and historical trends.
- Social Determinants of Health Maps provides maps on Socioenvironmental, Sociodemographic and Health Care. Maps are available at county level.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Commission
- America's Health Starts With Healthy Children is a chart book also developed by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Commission that examines the health of our children from different socioeconomic backgrounds in every state to document how healthy our nation's children are now and how healthy they could be if we as a nation were realizing our full health potential.
- The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Commission to Build a Healthier America's Education and Health Calculator is an online tool that compares state health data to education level. Each state can be further examined by county.
Kaiser Family Foundation
- Funded by the Kaiser Family Foundation, the State Health Facts website provides free, up-to-date and easy-to-use health data on all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the United States on over 500 health, health care and health policy topics.

Maryland Data
Maryland’s racial and ethnic minority population is rapidly growing and will soon exceed
the white population. In 2006, Maryland population was estimated to be 41.7 percent minority. If the current trend continues, minorities could be over 50 percent of the population by 2010. After a series of meetings with under serviced communities, representatives from governmental, and representatives from non-governmental agencies, they have prepared a progress report.
