Benefits of Membership
ESG provides leadership opportunities to graduate and undergraduate students. It is an affordable way to participate fully as a professional health educator. Inducted members receive a certificate of membership and the official pin of the honorary. They also receive a subscription to the Health Educator, the scholarly journal of the organization. Student who submit or intend to submit manuscripts to the Health Education Student Monograph must be ESG members.

 

Membership Dues
All current and prospective ESG members are required to contribute $10 in dues every school year to defray local chapter expenses. Induction into the national chapter requires a one-time fee of $40.

 

Induction into the National Chapter
Students who meet the national induction requirements must fill out an application declaring their intention early in the spring semester. The national induction ceremony is held every spring semester at UMD. Each member, upon induction, receives a certificate of membership, the official ESG pin, and a one-year subscription to the ESG journal, the Health Educator. Inducted members may renew their national membership annually.




Induction Requirements
The requirements for induction into the national chapter are:


A. Chapter Activity
-General body meeting attendance- at least 2 per semester
-Chapter event participation- at least 3 per semester


B. Health-related coursework and GPA
-Undergraduate students- 12 credits of health-related coursework and 2.7 overall GPA
-Graduate students- 9 credits of health-related coursework and 3.0 overall GPA

Note: Students who do not meet the national requirements can still be members of the local ESG Epsilon Chapter.
