Sages of the Ages in the Community

To help you teach young people about life’s storms and rainbows through storytelling, a sample of stories from adults has been gathered and compiled into an interactive story collection.  An activity guidebook for teens and a facilitator’s guide for teachers and youth leaders can be used in your work Sages of the Ages.  Along the way, you will guide young people through hands-on activities and projects of their own design, helping them develop skills and knowledge they can use to grow personally and connect to their communities.

The Sages of the Ages curriculum helps teens, people in their middle years, and people in their later years come together through storytelling.  The curriculum is intended for programming with teen groups and is adaptable for use in variety of settings.  The facilitator’s guide contains program information, activity descriptions, and other essential materials for group leaders.  The teen guide contains similar materials, providing teens with all of the necessary tools for learning by experiencing with the Sages program.

Sages of the Ages in the Schools

A new Sages of the Ages curriculum is currently being piloted in the Howard County Public School System Family and Consumer Sciences Program.  The curriculum combines the learning resilience through storytelling teaching tools with lessons in family, community, food/nutrition, clothing, and consumer literacy.  It is suitable for use with middle school students and contains nine detailed lesson plans, teaching materials, student materials, and evaluation tools.
