- Published numerous articles in such journals as Adolescence,
Family Issues, Family Relations, National Journal of Sociology,
and American Journal of Family Law.
- Author of book chapters and co-editor of Contemporary
Families and Alternative Lifestyles: Handbook on Research
and Theory (1983 and 1985).
- Member of five editorial boards, including Family Relations.
- Author of ten funded grant projects, including studies
of diagnosed schizophrenics and their families, divorce,
incarcerated mothers, and the lives of African Americans
from adolescence to adulthood.
- Awarded Outstanding Teacher in Health and Human Performance
(1996), Certificate of Teaching Excellence (1996), Returning
Students Recognition Award (1995), and Panhellenic Teaching
Award (1992).
- Held over 30 national offices and appointments including
President, Groves Conference on Marriage and Family; Vice-president
for Public Policy, National Council on Family Relations;
and Public Member, American Association for Marriage and
Family Therapy.
- Awarded five national service certificates, including
lifetime Groves membership for scholarly contributions and
Meritorious Service Award from the National Council on Family
Relations (2000).
