Stephanie Grutzmacher will participate in an international workshop to train researchers to utilize the Luxembourg Income Study dataset to asses the relationship between income and family variables in the US, Canada, European Union, and Australia.
Kimberly Van Putten received a Public Policy Internship from the American Psychological Association for 2005-2006.
Christine Pegorraro Schull was awarded a 2005-06 Dissertation Fellowship from the Rural Poverty Research Institute (RUPRI). Her dissertation will utilize a longitudinal dataset of rural, low-income families to assess the relationship between children's school readiness and numerous family and child variables.
Janet Liechty, Kate Kuvalanka, and Linda Oravecz earned the Graduate Student Outstanding Paper Award from the NCFR Family Science section for their paper, “Developing Student Competence through Internships: The Power of Reflection.”
Stephanie Gruzmacher, Sarah Kaye, and Nikki Forry were awarded Jewell Taylor Fellowships from the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences for 2005-06, recognizing their outstanding academic records and proposed dissertation research aimed at improving public well-being.
Nikki Forry and Janet Liechty earned the NCFR Education and Enrichment Section Award for the highest rated, student-authored paper, “PREP, PREPARE/ENRICH & RELATE: A Comparison of Cultural Competence and Outcomes” (their paper presented an analysis of the cultural sensitivity and effectiveness of three national relationship education programs).

Xiao Fang Wang received an Asian American Studies Program Travel Grant to attend the Association for Asian American Studies annual conference in 2005.
Yanique Edmond received the Distinguished Service Leader Award from the University Office of Community Service Learning in 2005.
