Public Health Science Program at Shady Grove
Welcome to the Public Health Science program offered by the University of Maryland, College Park at the convenient campus at Universities at Shady Grove (USG)! Now you can make a seamless transition from community college or another four-year institution to the University of Maryland while staying in Montgomery County. Beginning Fall 2014, the Public Health Science bachelor of science degree program is also being offered at the University of Maryland School of Public Health in College Park. Why Study Public Health?
Public health is an exciting and dynamic field which is growing and expanding to meet the needs of a changing, aging, and more complex population. Public health professionals face complex and challenging issues like: How can we help to make the public healthier? How can we help to make the public safer? How can we get health information to people who need it? How can we educate the public on the dangers of environmental hazards and the impact on health? How can we work to control infectious diseases?
Public health is a rewarding field which offers professionals the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives. Public health is a field which is geared toward serving the public and ensuring the public welfare by improving people's health and wellbeing.
About the Program
Students in the Public Health Science program will take courses in public health, environmental health, biology, epidemiology, kinesiology, biostatistics, and much more. Full time students will take 5 courses each semester over 4 semesters. Students are encouraged to participate in an internship or an independent research study as part of the curriculum.
