About Us: Health Policy and Management

On behalf of our faculty, staff and students, I welcome you to the Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM), a vibrant, energetic and growing group!

I invite you to explore our graduate degree programs, including a doctoral program in Health Services and four distinct master's degree programs with online options. We also offer a post-baccalaureate Certificate in the Principles of Public Health (online).

We offer a stimulating and exciting student experience with close contact with faculty, an outstanding cohort of peers, rigorous academic programs, amazing internship/practice opportunities and a collegial atmosphere. You will find a highly committed and innovative faculty who are excited about their cutting edge research in health services, health economics, health policy, and health equity.

Our HPM faculty love to share their excitement about research and mentor students to prepare them for careers in academia, government, the non-profit or the private sector. Our weekly research seminar series brings local and national speakers to discuss provocative new findings at the cutting edge of health services, health policy and health equity.

Our students, a mix of full-time and part-time scholars, form a cohesive cohort of motivated and intellectually curious individuals. They come from federal and state agencies, non-profits, the private sector or straight from their undergraduate programs. What they have in common is a passion for public health, reducing disparities and improving health for all.

Being in the Washington DC area, our students engage in highly sought after internships at federal and state agencies, national, state and local health organizations, including hospitals, health systems, insurance, and non-profit groups.

Come and see for yourself the amazing HPM team! Join us Thursdays at 3 pm for our virtual "coffee hour," which brings together faculty, staff, current and prospective students to exchange brilliant ideas, chat and have a fun time. Email Melvin Seale for details on how to join.
