Student training in public health research and practice with the UMD-PRC!

The UMD-PRC provides unique education, research, and training opportunities for students in the area of SGM health equity. Our students gain various research and public health practice experiences through the UMD-PRC and affiliated projects.

We currently have two affiliated research groups that support student and postdoctoral training in prevention science: The Community THRIVES (PI: Dr. Elizabeth Aparicio) and SOGI Health research (PI: Dr. Jessica Fish) labs.

The Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Health Lab

Led by Dr. Jessica Fish, the SOGI Health lab convenes faculty, students, and community partners to understand and address how LGBTQ+ youth and young adult experiences with family, schools, and community shape their mental and behavioral health.
